We had an excellent meeting on the 2nd February with 27 people in attendance.
Andrew gave an excellent talk on El Cid otherwise known as Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar or the El Cid by the Moors and El Campeador -the champion by the Christians and we also learnt about his noble horse Babieca. El Cid who never lost a battle!
Next we had Maggie´s excellent talk on the "History Of Flamenco" and although second time around for some of us it was still very interesting and we will organise a vist to a flamenco show in the future.
We discussed further trips and we are scheduled to go to Torrox with Alan and his two Spanish friends who will explain all about the history of the village. We have of course been there before with Moy who led us astray somewhat, downhill and up vale to places that no one would know exist unless you lived there and there was also very interesting and then a visit to Moy´s house where we had free drinks.
Also would like to tell you about the play that Alan is putting on, on the 26th February and is called "Es Mi Hombre" by Carlos Arniches and it on in the Theatre in Torrox! This is what Alan has said "it was written in the twenties but is relevant to today's situation of lack of work , dealing with a family due to be evicted for not being able to pay the rent , a sad topic but plenty of humour and a happy ending .As it will be the week of the pensionistas it will probably be free " Cannot be bad can it! Thanks Alan,
I will let you know about March shortly when I have more details,
